
The 3rd annual GeekFest is just around the corner.
The organisers, Dark Carnival aim to introduce everyone to their inner Geek and make the festival a fun filled day for everyone from kids to grandparents and the family pet rat.
With a jam-packed schedule of activities for the day, there will be something for everyone.
GeekFest is not only a festival for Geeks by Geeks but an invitation to everyone to experience and learn about the many branches of Geek culture.
Kasia Jabrzemski from The Dark Carnival said they saw an opportunity to serve their customers and fans better by introducing the GeekFest concept to Johannesburg for the first time.
“This is not just a gathering of nerdy types but a day of activity crammed with mini events for the whole family,” she said.
The attractions on the day include a Robo War Tournament with prizes up for grabs.
There will also be Live Action Role Play or LARP demo’s, Medieval Battle demo’s in full regalia and a Cosplay Competition including the pet parade.
A Mortal Kombat X Tournament, proudly sponsored by Ster-Kinekor Entertainment will be taking place during the day as well.
There will be a gaming tent as well as a Geek quiz for those that are serious about their geek knowledge and gaming skills.
Parents can enjoy live entertainment and refreshments in the beer garden with a supervised play area for their children.
Zombie Run South Africa will host its annual 5km Zombie Run. Participants can enter as either runners or zombies.
In the evening, a Cosplay Winter Wonderland themed ball for all Cosplayers who wish to dance the night away will be hosted.
This years’ event will be held at Huddle Park Golf and Recreation, Club Street, Linksfield, Johannesburg. Doors open at 10:00am until late.
Pre-sale tickets available through Webtickets starting at R80.
Tickets will be R100 at the gate.
Kids under 12 enter for free.
