Young ice hockey star on fire

Ross performs in multiple sport disciplines.

Ross Theron, a grade five pupil at Maragon Private School, is making waves with the ice hockey team he plays with, the Northgate Grizzlies.

This past Sunday the Northgate Grizzlies played in a tournament against the Forest Rats at Forest Hill to raise funds for motor neuron disease. Joost van der Westhuizen and his family were present as his son plays in the team with Ross. A film crew and journalists from You/Huisgenoot magazine was present to raise awareness of ice hockey as a sport.

Not only did Ross’s team win 2-0, but the Grizzlies won the tournament with an accumulative score of 3-2. Ross was named ‘man of the match’ for the entire tournament. This is a notable achievement considering the ages range from six to 46. Ross was interviewed by the journalists and film crew present.

Ross is looking forward to his D12 hockey match as the youngest player on the team, which will take place 30 to 31 May at Queens High School in Bezuidenhout Valley.
