GALLERY: Sweets expo indulges sweet teeth
MULDERSDRIFT – The Sweet and Snack Expo played host to a wide array of sweet and savoury retailers.
The annual SA Sweet and Snack Expo drew a large crowd of food lovers and guests to Silverstar Casino, Muldersdrift, between 21 and 24 May.
The expo saw about 58 retailers presenting their wares to residents, ranging from delicious cupcakes, chocolates, to savoury meats and wines. Guests were spoiled for choice.
Organiser Madriaan van den Berg was excited at the opportunity to host such a diverse expo. “Its been a hugely successful expo. We have manged to draw a large crowd of visitors and bring in a wide array of retailers, showcasing so much local talent in the culinary and pastry industry of South Africa,” she said.
The FBI Chef School was also present. The school showcased their student’s culinary talents to attending audiences. The expo played host to a number of formidable pastry and culinary chefs presenting tutorials on food design and presentation during the run of the expo.
Van den Berg also pointed out, “The expo has attempted to showcase the very best of what the South African culinary and pastry industry has to offer. The interest of the general public is definitely there and we are very thankful for all their support in order to make this expo an unforgettable experience.”
