Recent problems concerning South Africa’s electricity grid have prompted people to look for alternative methods to generate electricity and this includes solar and gas.
Ward 126 councillor Mike Tonkin explained that the high cost and unreliability of municipal electricity have raised concern among residents.
“With this in mind, a public meeting will be held to inform residents about viable alternatives to delivery of heating and lighting in our homes.”
He continued and said that alternative forms of energy will also reduce the effects of load shedding.
Tonkin said, “A small meeting was held a week ago to discuss the challenges. But the big meeting will take place on 14 May at the Panorama Primary School hall at 7pm.”
He added that a leading European electrical company will address the meeting.
“We will also have a local gas company to speak about gas installations as a viable alternate to electricity.
“I urge every resident in Weltevreden Park to come to the official meeting as we will discuss all of the alternative power sources that are available to residents,” concluded Tonkin.
