Nicci swims her heart out

Constantia Kloof primary school’s Nicci Tolmay competed in the South African Regional Level 1 Swimming championships last month.

The event, which was hosted at Ellis Park, had athletes from Zimbabwe, Tanzania and the rest of the country.

Nicci, representing Black Eagles Swimming Club in the U/11 division made it through to the final heat and was awarded a ribbon for 10th position in the 50 metre butterfly.

She was the only girl from Gauteng that qualified for the finals.

Nicci finished in 12th position for the 50 metre freestyle.

“It was honour and privilege to be competing in the competition. Even though I was sick on the day, I still swam,” she said.
