Man stabbed for food

A man was rushed to hospital last night after he was attacked by a beggar.

The incident occurred on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter Road and Doreen Road.

According to QRS medical services, the man in his thirties was with his brother and a friend while walking home when a beggar asked him for food.

When he indicated he had no food to give, the beggar stabbed the man with a flick knife.

The medical services were swiftly on scene and he was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for treatment.

The beggar, in his mid-twenties was arrested shortly after the incident when a security company apprehended him.
