Taxi driver stabs motorist on Hendrik Potgieter Road

STRUBEN'S VALLEY – A motorist was stabbed in his arm by a taxi driver in an alleged road rage incident on Hendrik Potgieter Road.

Honeydew Police are on the lookout for a taxi driver who allegedly stabbed a motorist on the intersection of Hendrik Potgieter and Krugerrand roads in Struben’s Valley on Saturday 11 April. Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said a case was opened and their detectives are following up on a case of assault with grievous bodily harm (GBH). “The detectives are currently following up information and is requesting anyone who witnessed the incident to make contact with Constable Kenneth Kekana on 011 801 8604 as no one has been arrested at this point,” explained Jacobs.

It is alleged that the taxi driver stabbed a motorist in what is suspected to have been a road rage incident. It is understood that the two motorists had pulled off on the intersection of Hendrik Potgieter and Krugerrand roads in Struben’s Valley and that is when the taxi driver pulled a knife and stabbed the motorist. “Our paramedics treated the motorist with stab wounds on his arm,” explained Denver Ramrain of Quick Response Emergency Services.

It is also alleged that the taxi driver drove off after the incident and it is not quite clear if the motorist managed to take down the taxi’s registration number.
