Maylah reaches her dream
Maylah Peiterse realised her dream to complete 25 om die dam ultra marathons
Roodepoort Athletic Club’s Maylah Pieterse crossed the finishing line to become the first female in South Africa to complete all 25 Om Die Dam marathons since it started in 1991. She finished with a time of 6:36:34.
“I followed my dream of crossing the finishing line and running strengthens me in many ways, physically, emotionally and spiritually,” she said.
Maylah inspired fellow runners at the start of the race saying never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something.
This Easter Weekend Maylah also competed in her 16th Randburg Harriers Easter 100km.
“If you fail, you still win by trying. Arrive at the start goal with a specific goal and the best angle to approach challenges is the “try” angle,” she said.
Maylah is grateful for the support from her family, colleagues, friends, Roodepoort Athletics Club runners, Laurie’s training group as well as all running clubs on the West Rand.
