A Muldersdersdrift woman, charged with the sale of illicit cigarettes, has been released on bail.
The 29-year-old was arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes in Rietfontein and Muldesddrift. The Krugersdorp Intervention Unit reacted to tip-offs from the community regarding the illegal activity on Plot 4, in Rietfontein.
“Tip-offs from community members led to the successful arrest of the woman and she has since appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court. The illicit cigarettes were found at the address on Plot 4 and taken into police custody,” said Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya.
These cigarettes are not manufactured in South Africa and can be identified with a specific marking or number.
WO Ngwenya said police officers appreciate the tip-offs and reports from community members and that through their joint efforts, Muldersdrfit can be a
crime-free area.
