Athletics superstar in the making

Crystal Wills, a pupil of Maragon Private Schools, has been selected to represent Gauteng at the SA Pimary Athletics Championships.

Crystal took the ninth spot for javelin at the athletics meeting that was held on 21 March in Germiston with her best throw on the day of 28.98m.

She began competing in Grade 4 in Ruimsig and went through to the D12 team and ultimately, the Gauteng team. The Grade 6 pupils competed with 27 of the top girls in SA in the U13 category.

Gauteng took the spot this year and was crowned provincial winners.

Maragon’s marketing manager Belinda Espag said everyone at the school was especially proud of Crystal and her marvellous feat. “This is truly a great achievement and we wish her success with the upcoming competitions.”
