Howie Combrink nominated for two Samas

ALLEN'S NEK – South African musician Howie Combrink has been nominated for two Samas for his latest album.

Local musician and studio manager in Allen’s Nek, Howie Combrink has been nominated for two Samas (South African Music Awards) for his debut album, Eat It While It’s Hot .

Combrink received Sama nods for Best Newcomer and Best Adult Contemporary Album. He was considered by his artistic peers to be one of the top five new artists in South African music.

Combrink was pleasantly surprised and humbled by his nominations at the Samas. “Being nominated for two Samas this year came to me as a big surprise. It is a great honour to be up for two nominations. For many years, I’ve wanted to just attend the Samas and now to actually attend it for the first time and be nominated is a bonus. I’m a big fan of most of the artists in my categories, so to be up against them is a daunting experience but whatever the outcome is, I will always remain a fan of the other artists and wish them well,” he said.

Combrink added that the nominations gave him the added confidence to work harder on his future endevours.

“The nomination is more than I expected and that is all the encouragement I need to keep working hard and focus on the ultimate goal. A win will be an added bonus to the nomination package which is already awesome,” he said

The South African Music Awards will be held on 19 April at Sun City.
