Donations needed for funeral
STRUBEN'S VALLEY – Resident urges the community to step in and assist Victor Machado to cover costs of his mother's funeral.
Residents of Struben’s Valley will know Victor Machado as a man in a wheelchair who always has a smile on his face.
According to a resident Jacques van der Heever, Machado’s mother died on 21 March, following a stroke she had two weeks earlier.
Van der Heever added, “He (Victor) is now left alone in the world and he doesn’t have any money to cover the funeral costs.”
He explained that this has spurred the community to act.
“We have to do something to help so we have set up an account where people can pay money into in order to support Machado and his mother. We need to raise R6 500 to pay for the funeral that will take place on 28 March and the cremation, so we urge the community to jump in and help us out. If they can’t donate money they can also donate food for the funeral, so anything can help.”
