Princess panga suspects arrested

The victim knew the suspects who broke into his house.

Two men, 27 and 30, were arrested after breaking into a house in Harry Street.

On Monday 16 March at around 3 am the victim received a rude awakening, Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo in a press statement said.

“He told us that all his doors and windows were properly closed before he went to bed,” Khumalo said.

He awoke to noises in his house and reported that he heard people talking. He saw two men taking his clothes from his closet, Khumalo said. When he screamed they reportedly ordered him to keep quiet and threatened him with a panga in their possession.

The men also stole a DVD player, an amplifier and the victim’s wallet containing an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the house.

“The complainant knew the suspects and their addresses and phoned the Roodepoort police,” Khumalo said.

A case of theft was opened at the Roodepoort Police Station and the men were arrested. They subsequently appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, Khumalo said.
