Two arrested for fraud
HONEYDEW – Two arrested for applying for a R 2.5 million home loan with fake documents.
Constable Tiny Mabelane of the Honeydew Detective Services in conjunction with bank investigators managed to arrest two suspects (aged 36 and 37) for fraud.
According to Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, the suspects provided fake identification to apply for a home loan of R 2.5 million. “The one suspect applied for the loan and the other suspect confirmed to the bank all his friend’s falsified information,” explained Jacobs.
The suspects handed in fake payslips, residential address confirmation letters and prove of employment to the bank.
The suspects appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court.
Another arrest was made by Constable Godfrey Mabasa. He arrested a 56-year-old man after he shot his ex-girlfriend dead and wounded her new boyfriend. The two victims were together when the suspect arrived and started firing shots at them. He fled the scene but was arrested the following day. According to Jacobs, four months ago the deceased had opened a case of domestic violence against the suspect, but withdrew the case. The suspect also appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court.
