Load shedding not so bad after all

What are some of the activities you get up to during load shedding?

We are all affected by load-shedding, but what should we really get up to when it occurs?

Jannalene Holtshausen from Discovery says that there are other things you can do to make up for the time lost between having electricity and waiting for electricity to come back on. “I have a great husband and when we experience load shedding, we switch on the gas stove and make tea. It also gives me time to read my favorite magazines as I use my head light which helps me see the words better. We also go to bed early.”

Many people have been forced to see load shedding as a blessing instead of a curse as Eskom has made the community seem to adapt to this inevitable situation. “My wife and I get to spend valuable time together when we’re faced with load-shedding,” says Theodore de Beer from Delarey.

According to Justine Jeftha from Florida Park, she painted her toenails to make up for the hours and “it looks terrible!” She and her family slept throughout the entire duration of not having electricity.

Load shedding can still bring a family together. Light candles and have dinner, play board games and have your own talent shows in your house to keep you busy while you await having electricity.
