UPDATE:Cop shot and wounded at home
STRUBENS VALLEY – A Police captain was shot and wounded in the early hours of this morning at his home.
Police are still investigating what the motive for the cop shooting that occurred this morning in Strubens Valley could have been.
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale, one of their police captains stationed at the provincial office was shot and wounded this morning at around 2.am.
“He heard a noise in his yard and was shot as he went out to find out what the noise was about,” explained Mogale.
The police officer was shot on the stomach and is said to be in a critical condition at Milpark Hospital.
One of the neighbours who wished to remain anonymous said she heard three gunshots and as she was about to call the police, she heard he neighbour on the phone saying he is shot.
It is understood that the man managed to say that there were two suspects in his property before he was airlifted to hospital.
“That will be the subject matter of investigation and no arrest has been made at this point,” said Mogale.
Nothing was stolen from the property and a case of attempted murder is being investigated by the Honeydew Police Detectives.
