Brighter side of load shedding
JOBURG – We all need to learn how to make the best of load shedding.
I know we all hate load shedding, but for the foreseeable future it is going to be a part of every South African’s life, so why not make the most of it.
I know this is difficult to do when you are stuck in traffic because all the traffic lights are out or when you are having takeaways by candlelight or bathing in cold water, but let’s try.
I think of it this way, most people get home from work, greet the family, eat dinner, watch TV and then go to bed. It is very seldom that we actually spend quality time with our families and have proper meaningful conversations.
Life has become such a rush and often it feels like we almost live past one another, only having brief moments to interact.
For me, the two, four and even eight hours without electricity gives me a chance to have some ‘me time’. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, play with my cats and just enjoy the calm quietness.
Another bonus is that you will probably save on electricity and you don’t have to cook.
Can you think of anything positive about load shedding?
