Tough day on field for Poorte
Poorte had a tough day on the field as they face Tuks.
The Roodepoort Rugby Club hosted the Tuks Rugby Club in the Assupol Super Club Series 2015 this weekend.
The first team had a tough day out on the field as they lost 15-40 to Tuks.
The Poorte could not handle the fast paced game and were down 10-29 at half-time.
In the second half the Poorte tried to attack and get back in the game but a few handling errors cost them momentum.
Head coach Brian Armitage said the back line defended well but the line out defence needed work.
“Our back line defended very well. Jessie and Wesley Delport had a good game in the centers. Jessie was our man of the match. Line out defence was not up to scratch and Tuks sped up the game and we were found wanting at times,” he said.
In earlier games, the second team won a hard fought match against the Tuks second team 10-5. A second – half try from inside centre Jaques du Toit ensured the victory.
The third team also won their match 48-3.
The U/21 team however lost their match 10-70.
The teams will next face Randfontein Rugby Club. The second, third and U/21 teams will play Friday night at Rand Leases Sport Grounds in Florida.
The senior teams will face each other the following day at Ellis Park stadium in the Assupol Super Club Series game.
