JAM sets bigger and better prospects in 2015

ROODEPOORT — JAM reflects on goals achieved and strengthens relationships in 2015.

The Joint Aid Management (JAM) welcomed guests and donors on 24 February to reflect on the past year. The annual event is in partnership with the organisation’s vision of forming stronger partnerships and networking with the donors and supporters.

Co-founders of JAM, Ann and Peter Pretorius said they were continuously grateful to all their donors, who throughout the years have helped them grow and reach more communities.

“Our donors are a key part of our growth and expansion. We want to see all of our offices feeding a million children. As we keep growing, our vision is not getting smaller. The growth has been phenomenal and every single donor is important,” reiterated Peter.

David Brown, JAM’s managing director, reflected on the targets and goals in 2014 and the objectives they hoped to reach in 2015. With their recognisable red bowls hanging from the ceiling, the Blue Label telecoms conferences was adorned with JAM’s signature colours of red and black.

Brown said during the 2014 year, 18 early childhood development centres were upgraded to improve education and learning in some of the most disadvantaged areas in the country.

“We are working toward improving the education these children receive in order to improve their education capabilities into early childhood development. We trained 12 caregivers and the area of qualified practitioners still needs attention.”

During the 2014 year, 249 community farmers were trained to supply fresh produce and create a sustainable environment. Brown also said last year was the year of the tech with field monitoring now accessible via mobile.

Speaking about prospects in 2015, he added, “We want to focus on the development of the first 2 000 days of life, that is from conception until 5 years old, to prevent stunting.”

He said JAM hoped to reach 80 000 every day and expected more corporates to come on board.
