Snuggles pupils learn to swim

RADIOKOP – Pupils learn the important life lesson of swimming.

Swimming is a popular sport in South Africa and our climate is ideal for swimming during summer.

This past week the pupils at Junior Snuggles College embraced the weather and started with their first swimming lesson.

“Swimming is an important life skill that all children should learn from an early age,” said Megan Hunt, principal of Junior Snuggles College in Radiokop.

“We suggest that all our little ones learn to swim as it is a fundamental skill to their safety. There are some horrible statistics that show, teaching your child to swim is the number one thing besides buckling their seat belt that could keep them safe. It could lower the risk of drowning up to 88 per cent.”

She added that swimming is a low impact sport that provides a more effective workout than most other activities.

“While it may never be too late to learn how to swim, your child may get benefits beyond water skills if you introduce him/her to the pool at an early age. By developing a positive association with water, swimming lessons can give your child confidence,” concluded Hunt.
