Eat dog food to help mutts: #supremepetchallenge

Without being challenged to do so, the Record team recently took on the Supreme Pet Max Challenge.

Supreme Pet, a dog food company in Randfontein, launched the campaign to feed shelter dogs. The campaign encourages animal enthusiasts and dog owners alike to eat some pet food and raise awareness. Participants are filmed while each eating a spoon of dog pellets and the video is posted on platforms like YouTube and social media, much like the J9 Ice Bucket Challenge last year.

In the video participants nominate specific people or organisations to take on the challenge. Once the video is complete, participants have the option of either making a monetary donation to the company to contribute to the campaign or donates dog food to them.

On Friday 20 February the Record team, including digital manager Sonette Reid and intern Labeeqah Rawood gave in and ate dog pellets in front of the cameras. For some the dry pellets were harder to swallow than for others.
