A special operation by Roodepoort police has lead to the arrest of 48 suspects this weekend.
The suspects face charges of common assault, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, possession of stolen goods theft of a motor vehicle and armed robbery.
The police also closed down six shebeens in areas such as Princess Squatter camp, Davidsonville and Mohlangeni.
The suspects were charged and detained at the Roodepoort police station and 38 of them will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court this week.
