Banana republic

RADIOKOP — South Africa seems to be going from bad to worse.

Disappointed citizen from Radiokop writes:

I think we can all agree that the chaos that ensued during President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation Address was one of the lower points we have seen in our country.

For months, i have been frustrated by the ruling party’s sheer disregard for the very constitution that so many paid for with their lives. It has been a tough 20 years for us as country, granted; but it feels as if South Africa is going backwards.

Maybe we will not be oppressed by the minority as before but what of the slight propaganda that is on our screens and media, particularly state owned?

What of the tax payer’s money mysteriously goes missing only to be flashed in our hungry and poor faces with outlandish upgrades and exaggerated expenses?

What of the people and mostly children that do not have something and simple as running water?

For the first time in a long time, we all stood as one against the e-toll system and i think if we can use that same mindset and unity, we can finally have a say in how we want OUR country to be run.

The riot and utter disrespect that was shown in parliament can not be attributed to one incident. It has been brewing for a long time. Unfortunately, we seem to always expose ourselves to the world in the most unflattering way.
