Crime fighting youth get boost
Standard Bank spent the day with the Youth Crime Fighters Organisation at the Tshepisong Multi-Purpose Centre yesterday.
Through a CSI engagement with the organisation, Standard Bank provided a five-a-side inflatable soccer pitch, soccer balls, cones and mini spot kick goal post. This is to promote community driven football development and Arthur Nyoni, CEO of the Youth Crime Fighters Organisation said the contribution will go a long way in the development of the youth in the community.
“With the additional resources, they will be inspired to pursue their dreams of competing in various football tournaments of the future. One day maybe they will represent our country at the CAF AFCON tournament,” he said.
The objective of the Roodepoort based organisation is to fight crime in the community by providing positive alternatives to youth through sport, art and culture. The organisation also runs classes to help young people with their homework to improve their school results.
The organisation is made up of children from the informal settlement who regularly train and hold football matches.
“Standard Bank proudly supports the beautiful game and this initiative reaffirms our commitment to developing local communities and the passion for football. We believe that by nurturing these hopes and aspirations, we can make a real difference to the development of our future sporting stars,” said Hazel Chimhandamba, head of Group Sponsorships, Standard Bank.
