Residents a no-show

WELTEVREDEN PARK – First AGM for 2015 in Ward 89 was cancelled but councillor says it will be held later this year.

On 31 January Ward 89 was supposed to have its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Weltevreden Park Primary for 2015 but it was cancelled.

Ward 89 councillor Ingrid Reinten explained that the AGM was cancelled because a quorum could not be met as only five residents showed up for the meeting.

“We needed a quorum of at least 10 people and five were too few.”

She added that a guest speaker was booked for the meeting and refreshments were ready.

“The other purpose of the meeting was for nominations and to elect office bearers.”

Reinten explained that the meeting will be postponed to later this year but added that she will keep residents in Ward 89 in the loop of any new developments and dates.

“Residents need to take pride, stand up and come and support meetings in their ward. By doing this they will get to know people in their area and make Ward 89 a stronger, better ward,” concluded Reinten.
