Cradle Triathlon with a different

MULDERSDRIFT – Cradle of Humankind to play host to unique triathlon on 15 February.

The Cradle of Humankind is the perfect venue for outdoor activities like cycling, swimming and running and this was what convinced TriRock events in conjunction with Gauteng Tourism to choose the Cradle as a venue for its Tri-Rock Cradle Triathlon.

Race director Grant Kunneke said, “TriRock Cradle of Humankind will offer a uniquely African triathlon set in the heart of the Cradle area. Gauteng Tourism have been fantastic and earmarked this as a GTA signature event with a view to not only attracting triathletes nationally but internationally.”

The triathlon will start off with a 1.9km swim, followed by a tricky 90km cycle road leg and it ends off with a 21.1 km run.

“Full road closures will ensure that the roads are free from traffic to ensure the safety of all competitors. The athletes will complete their run portion of the triathlon in the Hero Adventure Park who will also play host to the event on 15 February.”

“The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site is an area of tremendous heritage significance and sublime natural beauty. It is an excellent and healthy environment in which to complete this sports event, challenging participants in body, mind and spirit,” said Gauteng Tourism CEO Dawn Robertson.

“Athletes can still enter for the Triathlon by visiting the TriRock Cradle website,” she concluded
