An exciting way to look at your child’s education

MULDERSDRIFT – Maragon starts the academic year with a brand new school.

The new Maragon Avianto primary and pre-school officially opened its doors on 13 January.

Catering for children as young as three years old in their Kindi classes up to Grade 1, the school is situated in Muldersdrift in the Avianto security lifestyle village.

Avianto has open outdoor spaces where the children can enjoy nature with interesting provocations for intellectual stimulation.

“This is all about stimulating the children, visually, physically and mentally. We want them to touch and create things on their own and create their own understanding,” said the school’s Curriculum Developer Lynda Eagle.

The school definitely pushes the envelope on creative education using the Montessori equipment which emphasises on independence and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical and social development.

With Grade 0  and Grade 1 pupils, the classrooms are full of interesting materials to keep the little ones ever curious about their surroundings, school mates and themselves.

School principal Monica de Beer said this new venture in children’s education is exciting for both the pupils and teachers, because of the innovative teaching methods.

“The children are very excited and happy to start a brand new journey. We have six classes open from Kindi which is for three-year-olds to Grade 1. We are a parallel medium school which means we teach in both English and Afrikaans for pupils that speak either language.”

De Beer’s hopes for this exciting academic year is to grow from strength to strength and implement teaching methods to bring out the individual talents in each child.
