Computer Classes at NG Kerk
The NG Kerk will offer free basic computer training for three to six months to those who register.
The NG Kerk in partnership with ABSA Westgate is once again opening its computer school to the community. The church will offer free basic computer training for three to six months to those who register.
With seven rooms, the school can accommodate almost 200 students with 125 working computers.
The computer literacy training includes Microsoft Office, typing skills and life skills. Those who graduate from the school are awarded with a certificate.
The computer school forms part of the church’s outreach programme and has been running for five years with the support of Arnold Smith, the reverend of the church.
“Everybody is welcome from the Roodepoort area and beyond. Over the years, we have had people from as far as Princess, Tsepisong, Dobsonville and Kagiso. No matter the race or age, all are welcome,” said Smith.
Reverend Willian Beyan (STET), the trainer and director of computer school said there are no requirements for people who want to take part in the classes.
“We are starting registrations this Saturday and will continue for the whole month. The only requirement is being able to read and write. There are no age limits and all are welcome,” said Beyan.
Classes are on a Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, those who want to register can contact Beyan on 083 480 3136 or contact the church directly on 011 664 7707 and leave their contact details.
