The male body, identified only as ‘Vusi’ according to the Northcliff Melville Times, was discovered hanging from a tree in a veld said to be private property in Newlands on Wednesday afternoon 7 January.
It is believed that Vusi lived near the veld in which he was found and that he was often seen walking with a trolley collecting recyclable items.
Ward councillor Steve Kotze told the Northcliff Melville Times that the area has been problematic.
Rumours have been doing the rounds that this is the second body that has been discovered hanging from a tree in the area.
Neither murder nor suicide has been ruled out by the police. Vusi’s age is unknown.
