Fuel price hits six year low

All fuel to decrease in price.

Consumers can look forward to a welcome new year’s gift.

As of Wednesday 7 January all fuels will decrease in price and petrol will decrease to its lowest price in six years.

The Department of Energy has announced on 2 January that petrol 93 ULP and LRP will decrease with R1,27 per litre, petrol 95 ULP and LRP with R1,23 per litre, diesel 0.05% sulphur with R1,04 per litre and Diesel 0.005% sulphur with R1,05 per litre.

The decrease in price has been attributed to the fact that the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased during the period under review. The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate also weakened when compared to the previous period. The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 28 November 2014 to 1 January 2015 was R11.47 compared to R11.09 during the previous period.
