Iconic singer to perform at Ruimsig Stadium

RUIMSIG – Joburg Picnic Jazz Festival to be held at Ruimsig Stadium in support of 16 Days of Activism Campaign for no violence against women and children awareness campaign.

The award-winning American singer, producer and musical director Chris Walker is set to headline the closing of this year’s ’16 Days of Activism’ against the abuse of women and children awareness campaign.

The event will take place on 6 December 2014 at Ruimsig Stadium from 12pm.

“We will also be commemorating the 16 years of Activism Campaign for no violence against women and children, 20 years of democracy and freedom, 60 years of women charter as part of promoting equality for women and children through this activation supporting the Department of Women,” explained Nico Moerane who is event’s organiser and founder at Moerane Event Productions.

Known for his smooth, soulful and timeless hits like ‘How do you heal a broken heart’, ‘Everything will be alright’, ‘Someone to love me forever’, ‘Giving you all my love’ and many more.

Furthermore, he will be conducting empowerment workshops for women and children in Mogale City and Joburg City.

Chris Walker will be supported by the best of local talented male artists, such as Tshepo Tshola, Bhudaza, Joe Nina, Dawnay Band and some of the upcoming artists.

“We have chosen men to take the lead in promoting non-violent campaign against women and children using a jazzy picnic environment,” explained Moerane.

On 5 December, a gala dinner will be held Silverstar to share more information about different programmes that business, civil society and government has put in place to deal with the scourge. “Be counted in – together moving a non-violent South Africa forward by supporting this festive starter campaign activation,” said Moerane.
