Check your till slip

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Resident explained that people need to start checking their till slips.

Resident Melanie Botha urges people to check their slips right after they have paid for their groceries and goods at stores.

“We live a fast-paced life and sometimes we tend to be too rushed to just stop and take a look at our slips when we do shopping,” said Botha.

She explained that as she was standing next to the counter at a popular grocery shop close to 14th Avenue, she noticed that there was a mistake on the till slip. “I bought two packets of ginger biscuits which cost about R10 each and I noticed that I actually paid R149 for the two packs.”

She added that upon closer inspection, she realised that next to the price it indicated that she had paid that price for a large duffle bag. “I didn’t purchase a duffle bag, so I knew something was wrong. I bought lots of spices and other groceries in addition to the ginger biscuits and as I paid I thought the total bill was a bit over the top.

“As the cashier behind the till gave me my slip, I immediately went to the manager with the complaint and he managed to sort out the issue for me. I don’t intend to give the shop a bad name but I want to inform other people to open their eyes and check as the cashier behind the till scans the goods because it is easy to overlook it while running around in the middle of a busy day.”
