A resident is recovering in hospital after a housebreaking and robbery went wrong on 16 November on Bertha Avenue.
The resident triggered his alarm after he heard noises in the house. According to police officials, both the security gate and front door were broken down before the perpetrators made their way into the man’s residence.
Four suspects broke into the house and hit the homeowner on the head with a bottle and proceeded to stab the man with the broken remains of the same bottle. Police responded at about 3am and the suspects made a run for it upon their arrival. The four suspects were chased through a neighbouring veld area, but only three were captured. Captain Lydia Mtila-Dikolomela said, “We are conducting an investigation into the whereabouts of the fourth perpetrator. Three men were taken into custody.”
The resident is in a stable condition after an operation.
