Residents spend time in nature

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Community comes out in numbers to support greenbelt walk.

Resident Jan von der Heyde, who organised a walk in the suburb’s greenbelt, was delighted when 18 people turned up.“The previous year, only four people participated in the walk so this year’s number is a big surprise,” he said.

Von der Heyde added that it was a mildly warm day that was perfect for walking. “We explored the entire greenbelt area in our suburb and it was nice to spend time in the nature. Residents got to see beautiful sights like the little waterfall and different plant species.”

Ward 126 councillor Mike Tonkin said, “This was proof that our community members are still willing to get out of their comfort zones and explore new things in their environment.”

Von der Heyde thanked all the residents who came along and indicated that there will be many more similar walks in 2015.
