The Young Performers Awards Showcase took place earlier in November at the King’s School West Rand. Communications manager at the school Bronwyn Barnard said, “Pupils received awards for their involvement in the National Eisteddfod Academy and we were surprised at how well they did.”
The following pupils took the item winners certificates at the academy: Grant Peverett, Zwote Kone, Rachel Baker, Connor Merson-Davies, Morgan-Lee Wolf, Lauren-Marie Swanepoel and Lene de Bruyn.
“Unathi Radebe received an award for item winner and she was selected as part of the Top 10 and placed ninth. Morongwa Seaka received a special Ambassador Award for her English Comedic Monologue. Kelci Walters got the Medal Award for English Reading.”
She added that Rorisand Makhoana received an Ambassador Award for English poetry and Kezia van Rooyen received an item winner award for his speech To Entertain.
“Radebe, Seaka, Walters and Makhoana are also part of the school’s Performing Arts Company that will be participating at regional and provincial level next year. Well done to each and every pupil that worked hard at the Eisteddfod Academy,” concluded Barnard.
