Different music genres to meet at the botanical garden

POORTVIEW - Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden to hot a full orchestra.

Eclectic music lovers from all walks of life are set to be spoiled for choice this weekend. On Sunday, 16 November, the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Poortview will host the SAfm Melting Pot of Sounds, a brainchild of SAfm which celebrates different genres of music played on the radio station.

Well-known musician and producer Zwai Bala has been appointed as the musical director. “He will feature various South African artists who will ensure that we have a very entertaining afternoon,” said Ronny Tshabalala, principal marketing and communication officer at the garden. He added, “This will be where the classics, gospel, jazz, RnB and choral really meet.”

He boasted that a full orchestra in the open air and with the award-winning musical maestro Zwai Bala in control will sure echo a moving harmony to soothe even the most wretched soul. “These plains will epitomise the Garden of Eden when the most sophisticated melodies will reverberate through tranquility while churning all sorts of creative sounds into one single movement,”said Tshabalala.

According to Tshabala, all these genres will be presented in such a way that they are not easily and bluntly separated from each other but, as the title explains, thrown into one pot that produces a well-blended taste made unique by a variety of special ingredients.

This event will take the form of a picnic concert staged between 12pm and 4pm. Bookings can be done through webtickets.co.za or at the gate. Tickets are R100 for adults, children between the ages of six and 16 pay R50, children under six will receive free entrance.

“Pack your picnic baskets and bring along your blankets. Secure parking is available on the Walter Sisulu Botanical garden grounds,” he concluded.
