Accident-causing truck driver sought

"What happened is not right and this man needs to be held accountable for his irresponsible driving," resident says.

A couple is seeking information about a truck driver since he forced the woman’s vehicle off the road, causing an accident.

Ernest Hayes is on a mission to find the truck driver that caused his fiancée, Martia Hubbard, 49, to damage her vehicle after she collided with concrete structures.

Hubbard was travelling in her black Volkswagen Golf Chico along Hendrik Potgieter Road from Hillfox Shopping Centre towards Clearwater Mall at around 7.45pm on Monday, 3 November when a truck pushed her vehicle off the road.

“She had to drive next to the road and it all happened so quickly,” says Hayes.

“She had to swerve off the road so fast that she ended up driving through a manhole and into a concrete structure, damaging her vehicle badly,” he says.

Hayes is irate at the fact that the truck driver did not stop to check on Hubbard; he simply drove on.

“The driver was travelling in a truck transporting building material and had employees riding along on the back of the truck, which is illegal,” says Hayes.

Luckily Hubbard did not sustain any serious injuries. Hayes appeals to anyone that might have witnessed the accident or have the registration number of the truck or the name of the construction company to contact him with further information.

“What happened is not right and this man needs to be held accountable for his irresponsible driving,” he says.

Anyone with further information can contact Hayes on 082 395 0971.
