WELTEVREDEN PARK — An abrupt stop led to a domino affect for several cars crashing into each other
A multiple car accident left one person with minor injuries but wrecked several cars in its path on Jim Fouché and Hendrik Potgieter on 24 October.
According to one of the drivers on the scene, Wiseman Mavuso, “The robot had just turned green for our lane on Hendrik Potgieter and the car in front of a BMW sedan just stopped abruptly and the other vehicles slammed into each other.”
The wreckage involved four vehicles and the car that was supposedly the cause of the accident was not on the scene. The cause of the accident will remain the subject of an investigation.
“We transported one patient to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and we have not had further injuries from the scene. It is not clear what caused the accident as yet,” added Emer-G Med paramedic Dawet Jooste.
Traffic was diverted and delayed for a couple of hours before tow trucks arrived to collect some of the cars that were badly damaged.
