Last week I tried something new with the layout of the front page and the rest of the paper.

I also requested that our loyal readers be more interactive on the webpage and to those who responded thank you very much. Although some of the comments might have been less than positive, your input is valued and appreciated. Please keep it up. Social media is becoming a vast reality. Print media will not be made redundant, but Twitter, Facebook, webpages are becoming more and more popular because not everybody has the time to sit down and read the paper from front to back.

The generation of technology, inclined employed people appreciate the fact that they have news readily available. This will not only ensure they are kept up to date about happenings in their neighbourhood, but can also engage in interesting conversation with their friends around the dinner table.

Social media certainly keeps the record journalists on their toes. Nowadays is it so much easier to send an SMS or BBM, Twitter of Facebook instead of calling the person. It saves costs and you cannot exactly ignore a SMS, no matter how hard you try. That unmistakable peep of your cell phone immediately piques your curiosity and you cannot help but read the message. It is human nature to be curious.
