Eagle House Schools hosts a fun day of note
RUIMSIG— Parents, pupils and teachers come together for a day of fun and music at Eagle House School
Eagle House School (EHS) hosted fun day like no other on Saturday 18 October, with performances from local artists and water slides to whet every little one’s playful appetite.
The fun and games began at 12pm, with water slides and more than enough jumping castles that kept the little ones entertained and busy in the hot sun. Sweets and doughnuts stalls were also set up by the pupils and teachers.
With classes from Grade 4 to 12, the school has been hosting the fun day every year since it opened its doors in 2009. EHS educator Johardien Choonara said, “We have been hosting this for five years now and every year it keeps growing. It is the only fundraiser we have in the school and the pupils sell the tickets. We are a very small school and that ensures that every pupils here receives individual attention.”
Eagle House started off providing just home school, before expanding and registering with the Gauteng Department of Education in 2009. The school is fairly conventional because the students do not wear uniform and it has just 150 pupils in the school. Do not let the unconventional way of schooling fool you, however. Choonara adds that the school has been voted Top Independent School for three years in a row and provides their pupils with a vast variety of extra-mural activities.
The fun day was without a doubt, knocked out of the park, with performances including, AKA and Da L.E.S, Micasa and musical pioneers Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels.
Drinks and delicious treats were on sale throughout the day, and the lush green lawn provided the perfect relaxing area to enjoy food, drinks and the local music we all love and enjoy. All proceeds from the day went toward providing bursaries for underprivileged pupils during the 2015 academic year.
