CPF awareness campaign a big success

ROODEPOORT – CPF and Honeydew Police work together to create awareness in Sector 2.

The Honeydew Police and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 2 members worked together in a campaign to make the community aware of the CPF and the work it does in conjunction with the police.

CPF Sector 2 chairperson Neville Burnett explained that the campaign included a roadblock that was held on the corner of Nic Diederichs Boulevard and Florin Road and an awareness campaign at Clearwater Mall on 18 October.

Burnett explained that community policing was created by the Police Act of 1995 and it is being used as a philosophy that guides police management styles and operational strategies. It also emphasises the establishment of police-community partnerships and a problem-solving approach responsive to the needs of the community. “We are a link between the residents and the police and that is why we wanted to create awareness around the CPF in Sector 2.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs explained that the roadblock was very successful as all of the motorists were cooperative in helping out and assisting the police.

Burnett concluded and said, “On behalf of the CPF, I want to thank the police for their involvement and help during the day. Together, we created more awareness about the police and CPF in Roodepoort.”
