While large parts of the West Rand are without water due to technical problems, the municipality does not seem to mind wastage.
City contractors were working in Exner Street yesterday, 22 September, when they damaged a water pipe at approximately 12.45pm. Resident Johan Niemand provided video footage showing how thousands of litres water was spraying from the pipe.
According to an unidentified neighbour when he reported the problem he was shocked to hear “it is a 24-hour turn-around problem and there is nothing that can be done”.
Niemand says at approximately 12.45am this morning (23 September) the City arrived to fix the burst pipe.

My only remark on the water wastage: “A FOOL lIKE ME”” will yet again be “kept liable” for their “little error”. I’ve been battling for last 3 years with the municipality whereby they reckon I’ve used outrages water consumptions by my stand no but accounts in different names!!!! No 1 interested in assiisting!!!! Just pay up!!!! R127 000 ….WHERE is my rights as a consumer?????!!!Who can I go to for HELP???! :(
