Soccer for charity
ROODEPOORT - More than 70 teams of Soccer players dedicated their time for charity.
ROODEPOORT – Childhood Cancer Foundation Choc (Childhood Haematology Oncology Clinics) hosted their annual, massive fundraising event at the Panorama Sports Club on 14 September.
Each year the foundation comes up with a creative way of raising funds – and this year they used the beautiful game of soccer to bring people together.
More than 70 soccer teams from different companies dedicated their time and passion in raising funds for Choc while they were having an enjoyable time at Panorama Sports Club.
According to Panorama’s public relations officer Jacqui Swart, the charity event turned out better than expected.
“It was an amazing event and far surpassed our expectations. It certainly was an amazing day for the whole family,” said Swart.
“We hope to make this an annual event on the Panorama Football Club calendar,”she added.
Choc’s events and fundraising coordinator Sophie Ndhlovu also gave the event a tick of approval.
“The event is a great fun day, and it is so beautiful to see people making a difference with what they love,” Ndhlovu commented.
She also thanked the community for coming out in numbers to support the foundation.
“I just want to appreciate the community… It’s not about money, it is all about giving the best that you have,” she explained.
The foundation managed to raise over R100 000 this year.
“Last year we raised R90 000 and we are so happy that we met our target of raising more money this year,” shared Ndhlovu.
Choc is a countrywide organisation that provides holistic support for children suffering from cancer and life-threatening blood disorders as well as their families.
