King’s School West Rand pupils held up the school’s name at the National Eisteddfod Academy on 26 August. Marketing officer at the school Bronwyn Barnard said, “The judges were impressed with the Grade 1’s good eye contact with the audience and their facial expressions. They were also praised for their voice projection.”
She added that the Grade 3 pupils took part in the Afrikaans poetry section and they performed excellent. “One of the judges Hannes Coetzee said that every pupil who participated had good projection with their voices.”
The Grade 6 and 7 pupils did not disappoint either when they stole the audience’s attention from the beginning and kept it until the end. “Overall their performance was executed with poise, confidence and power of conviction.”
She added that Kezia Harvey and Roark Jooste from Grade 3 received silver for the poetry in Afrikaans while Ziante Louw received a gold medal.
“The following Grade 1 pupils received a diploma: Dakalo Makhoana, Connor Merson Davies, Keira Davies, Kiaslen Fabian, Nicole Gutura, Oleratu Chipu, Tayla Kruger and Amor Antonio.” She also congratulated Taryn Stephen, Samantha Foster, Jazmin Michael, Gabriella Parker, K.C.
