Panorama honours players

ROODEPOORT - Panorama Sports Club honours their players following the successful Gothia Cup tournament which took place in Sweden.

Panorama Football Club honoured their football youngsters, following the success of their Gothia Cup tournament in Gothenburg, Sweden recently.

Predictably, Panorama Sports Club celebrated in style – each player was presented with his official participation medal, certificate and team photograph. Penants were also made for every player with the club logo and Gothia logo.

“The club is very proud of these players who conducted themselves to the highest code of sportsmanship,” explained PRO Jacqui Swart.

She added that “the players were well received by their host country and they walked away with many lessons and more importantly, memories for a lifetime.”

Gothia Cup, the largest youth football tournament, marked its 40th anniversary of the cup and attracted a record number of teams.

During the tournament, the Panorama teams were split into two different groups, Panorama FC1 and Panorama FC2.

Panorama FC1 opened their campaign in spectacular style with a 1– 9 win over Varbergs of Sweden. They then lost 1– 3 to IFK Stocksund of Sweden and finished their group games with a win over Uppakra of Sweden 0 –4. They finished second in their group.

They then proceeded to their final against KFV Segeberg of Germany but lost 1–3.

Panorama FC2 team opened their group games with a poor result against IFK Stocksund of Sweden. They lost 6 – 0.

However, they lifted their tails with a 3 – 2 win over Uppakra of Sweden and then a defeat against Segeberg of Germany 1–5.

The youngsters started shinning when they qualified third in their group, this gave them the opportunity to play in the knock-out rounds.

They beat Norrtulls of Sweden 2 – 1 and again beat Uppakra of Sweden 2 – 4.

They finally lost in the quarter final against Masthuggets of Sweden 0 – 3.
