Local Pizza house to treat abandoned and abused children
WILGEHEUWEL – The kids at local charity house St Laurence Haven are up for a treat with a twist when Forno Italiano hosts the first of many charity days on 30 August.
Pizzeria house Forno Italiano will be treating children from Roodepoort-based St Laurence Children’s Haven to a day of fun and festivities on 30 August.
Forno aims to promote the day and raise awareness for abused and abandoned children who end up in children’s homes, including St Laurence.
The children will spend the day enjoying themselves and trying their hand in the kitchen by making their own pizzas.
Forno’s kiddies play room is scheduled to be open all day to ensure the fun never runs out, and will seal the day with ice-cream and goodie bags for everyone.
St Laurence Children’s Haven caregiver Richard Malan says the day would be an exciting opportunity for the children to mix with people from outside the home.
“We have 27 children between the ages of two and 20 years, and this is a great way for them to get out and enjoy a nice meal and get treated.”
Members of the Roodepoort community and surrounding areas are encouraged to donate toys, books and vouchers to go towards the goodie bags.
“We wanted to get involved with our local charities and give the children a day of relaxation and fun. We plan to make this a regular event , so we will probably get involved with different charities every three to six months” said Forno Italino’s marketing manager Michelle Smith.
