Friends identify murder victim

Family still unaware of tragedy.

When the murder victim who was discovered at Witpoortjie Station yesterday morning (6 August) did not pitch up for an appointment at his favourite pub yesterday afternoon, friends started worrying.

After numerous phone calls that went unanswered they even paid a visit to his home but could not find the man. Out of desperation they contacted the record where it was confirmed that a deceased male was found at the Witpoortjie Station. The pub owner and friends viewed the photograph that was taken at the scene (showing a small part of the victim’s clothing) and although it correlated with what the victim last was seen wearing (light denim pants and a tracksuit top with the colour purple) they still were not 100 per cent sure. One of the friends decided to take the sad task upon himself to visit the Roodepoort Mortuary and discovered that the victim was indeed the man who went missing.

The victim last was seen just past 9pm on 5 August when he left the pub in Breaunanda and walked to his home in Mindalore, as was his habit.

It is believed that he was attacked and stabbed on his way home at the Witpoortjie Station.

According to the Roodepoort Mortuary the victim’s family has not identified the body yet.

The victim’s identity is known to the record.
