The case of the 42-year-old man who allegedly murdered his 51-year-old wife in their Randpark Ridge home on 23 July has been postponed to 22 August.
The first court appearance of the parolee was on 31 July at the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court where the case was postponed for further investigation by the police.
The murder took place at about 2am on 23 July when the man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in their kitchen – she sustained three stab wounds to her back and one in her arm.
Vital Med Ambulance Services were called to the scene at around 7am and according to the spokesperson Tania du Toit, they speculated that the woman died shortly after being stabbed.
Details of who called Vital Med have not been confirmed.
Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs explained that due to the sensitivity of the case, no information about the investigation will be released to the media until after all of the findings have been presented to the court.
The man is a second-time offender and was sent to jail in 1999 for killing two of his family members and his friend with an axe. He was out on parole at the time of the incident.
