Today’s Woman Conference launched in Florida
The conference, to be held in November, is meant to inspire, deliver and empower women.
The Today’s Woman Conference was launched with an elaborate affair in Florida. The event was held at the Florida Arcade in Goldman Street last Saturday morning (19 July).
The conference, of which the first was held in 2007, is an international and interdenominational gathering of around 10 000 women from all walks of life. It is scheduled to start on Thursday 20 November and will carry on until Saturday 22 November at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena in Johannesburg. Pastor Abigail Magwenzi who is one of the organisers says last year’s conference saw 15 000 women gather in Harare in Zimbabwe.
The conference is meant to cut across denominational divides in Christianity and to set the captive, modern woman free,” says Magwenzi.
“We want to uplift women spiritually, economically and socially, and build a modern woman that is relevant and also beneficial to her nation.
“We will address key issues that face women and teach them how to overcome these issues.”
The launch opened with a prayer by Irene Tshifhiwa and some praise songs led by Ruth Mahaireni. Bishop Prisca then addressed the women.
“Today’s woman is organised and knows what she wants to do tomorrow, next month and in the next five years.
“We as women this year will do business on a higher level. We’ll establish businesses that go on for generations.”
Registration costs the conference at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena are R200 per person.
