Volunteer your care
Cansa West Rand hopes to find willing volunteers to help with upcoming fundraising projects.
Since its inception Cansa volunteers have been the backbone and lifeblood of the organisation, and more people are needed.
Western Gauteng region community mobiliser Amanda Roestoff calls for residents to volunteer with Cansa.
“Volunteers are the foot soldiers in the fight against cancer, carrying out invaluable work in areas of need,” she says.
“Without volunteers Cansa would not be able to provide its holistic care and support to those affected by cancer.”
Roestoff says Cansa West Rand is in urgent need of volunteers that can help with care and support as well as fundraising and administration.
“We specifically are looking for volunteers who would like to assist us with the planning, execution and wrap-up of our fundraising projects.”
For Roodepoorters this means that they can become involved directly with bigger Cansa projects such as the Cansa Relay for Life (August) and the Sanlam Cancer Challenge (of which the regional finals are scheduled for August). They also can become involved in the Movember initiative (November) or host or plan their own Cuppa for Cansa, among the many other projects.
“You can even help the Cansa Western Gauteng region make their administration load lighter,” says Roestoff.
